To her credit, Bauer is a nimble writer and a pleasant guide through what could be arid material. She also includes discussions of civilizations--especially China and India-- too often left out of ancient Cited by: 9.
This isn’t a book seeking to promote the Judeo-Christian tradition as the one, true religion. It also doesn’t go out of the way to bash Judaism and Christianity, either.
